"Without learning to know ourselves as intimately as we possibly can,
we limit our choice. Life is not very sweet without freedom of choice."
Moshe Feldenkrais
Children see the world as a limitless array of possibility. As adults we have traded in our wide-eyed innocence for pragmatism.
This creates limitations in our lives by training us to believe that only the most rational and
practical goals can be achieved. Our richest, most inspiring dreams, which once seemed so possible, wither in the light of our carefully cultivated practicality.
Instead of trying to achieve a final outcome or external goal, the Feldenkrais Method® focuses on the process of "attending to ourselves in
action," by helping us make conscious our habitual patterns of movement. In doing this, we break
free of ruts that keep us functioning in limited and sometimes painful ways, opening ourselves up to a greater freedom of choice
in our movements, which in turn leads us to a greater freedom of choice in our lives.
There are many benefits and applications to the Feldenkrais Method®, many of
which are explored on the following pages.
