Moshe Feldenkrais, D.Cc., developed his method in the late 1940s. He received his doctorate from the Sorbonne in mechanical engineering and worked with Fredric Jolie-Curie in early nuclear physics research. He was the first European to earn a black belt in Judo and was a trained acupuncturist. Synthesizing an inventor's mind with his deep curiosity about linguistics, biology, prenatal developmental, and athletics, Dr. Feldenkrais embarked upon a journey of self-study, teaching himself to walk pain-free after a crippling knee injury.

A Brief History of the Method:

Dr. Feldenkrais developed an innovative method that shows how using our natural way of learning to movie not only increases our movement options but also how we think, create, and feel. Among his students were Margaret Mead, David Ben-Gurion, Uehudi Menuhin, Helen Hayes, and Julius Erving. His widely read books include: Body & Mature Behaviour, Awareness Through Movement, The Potent Self, and The Elusive Obvious. The Feldenkrais Guild is now an international organization of Practitioners with over 5,000 trained worldwide. (www.feldenkrais.com)
